Tata Steel, for the first time, has made it to the prestigious list of Fortune magazine's 500 largest companies in the world. It, however ranks only 231th in terms of revenues. Six other Indian companies, all but one of them, belonging to the public sector are also on the list.
The seven companies are: Indian Oil (116), Reliance Ind. (207), Tata Steel (231), Bharat Petro. (287) Hindustan Petro (290), ONGC (335), State Bank of India (380).
