BJP feels vindicated after vote-for-money-tape telecast

After the telecast of the 'cash for vote' sting operation tapes by a private channel, BJP on Monday claimed it has "conclusively established" that UPA Government have won the trust vote by "dubious means".
Party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "The sting operation conclusively establishes that the Manmohan Singh Government has established its majority in Parliament on July 22 by dubious means,"
The telecast also confirms Amar Singh's role in "procuring MPs" to support UPA Government.
"The tapes telecast by CNN-IBN confirms that Amar Singh was a key player in the 'operation procurement' of MPs for UPA in the trust vote," he said.

BJP charges government unwilling to face Parliament

BJP has charged the Congress-led UPA government to be "afraid" of convening the monsoon session of Parliament. The party claims that the government is not prepared to discuss important issues in the House.
"It is for the first time in the history of Parliament that monsoon session, which normally commences by July end, is yet to start. It seems the government is afraid of facing the opposition after it has won the confidence vote by using unfair means," BJP vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu said in a press conference here today.
"The inflation rate is above 12 per cent and it seems the government is unable to control it. There is a spurt in terrorist activities also," he said referring to serial blasts in Jaipur, Bangalore and Ahmedabad.
Regarding the Amarnath land row, he said the party leaders and workers will take part in the three-day-long nation-wide agitation. The movement begins on Monday during which they would court arrest before the Raj Bhawan in all the states.

BJP to bring Amarnath Land issue on naional stage

The BJP has decided to move the Amarnath land-for-pilgrims case onto the national stage. The move to increase the pitch is somewhat belated given that the Jammu agitation is more than 35 days old. But BJP leaders feel the issue is fit to bring it now on the national level.
Jammu stir is a reaction to the decision of the J&K government to revoke the allotment about 100 acres of land to the Amarnath Shrine Board. It was done under duress as there were violent protests in the Kashmir Valley over the transfer of the land.
BJP seeks to identify itself with the “discrimination” against the Hindu pilgrims. This suits the party’s argument that the sentiments of the Muslim-dominated Valley are more readily catered to by the government.

BJP announces three day agitation from 11 Aug

The BJP core committee on Thursday decided to go ahead with a three-day agitation on the Amarnath land transfer issue beginning August 11. The party has made it clear they would settle for nothing less than re-allotment of land to the Amarnath Shrine Board.
On the other hand, PDP and National Conference are still opposing the demands for restoration of land and recall of governor N N Vohra.
Governor Vohra had appointed a four-member committee on Wednesday night to hold talks with Shri Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti (SASS), spearheading the agitation in Jammu.
However, the Samiti had spurned the offer of Governor for direct talks and visit to the alternative camp site.
The situation in both, Jammu and Srinagar is getting from bad to worse. Kashmiri traders on Wednesday threatend to snap all trade ties with their counterparts in Jammu.
On Wednesday, eight out of the ten members of the Amarnath Shrine Board resigned to help in reconstitution of the Board.
